Snow Day Read: Rabbit's Gift by George Shannon and illustrated by Laura Dronzek

Rabbit's Gift by George Shannon and illustrated by Laura Dronzek is a beautiful children's book with an important message of giving to others and being compassionate.  It starts with a rabbit that has more food (a turnip) than he needs and decides to give the extra turnip to one of his animal friends who might not have enough food for the long winter, who then passes it on to another friend and that friend has enough food so the turnip gets passed on to another, and it continues.  The animals also don't know who's left the turnip on their doorstep because it has been snowing and the snow has covered the animals tracks, in the end the turnip ends up back at the rabbit's and the rabbit shares the turnip with everyone at an animal get together.
